2022 DAC Regional Photography Exposition Thank you for your interest in our 11th Annual Regional Photo Expo. The following are the rules and requirements for entering the 2022 Clarksville Downtown Artists Co-Op (DAC) Regional Juried Photography Exposition. Please read the prospectus carefully, as several noteworthy changes have been made to accommodate COVID-19 requirements. ARTIST AND WORK ELIGIBILITY Artists 18 years or older residing in Tennessee or Kentucky may enter. All photography submitted must have been completed within the past 2 years. All work must be original, solely created by the artist, and not produced with the assistance/help of an instructor. Digitally-edited and HDR images are allowed per guidance below in “Limitations” section. Intent of this annual open exhibition is to showcase the absolute best photography from regional photographers. Photography will be juried for awards based on organic content, technical qualities, presentation and overall impact as determined by the juror. RISK AND LIABILITY Completion of the entry form constitutes agreement by the entrant that there shall be no liability on the part of the Downtown Artists Co-op or any members or sponsors for loss, damage, or destruction of any works. Insurance of artwork is the sole responsibility of the participating entrant. By entering this event, you give consent to the DAC to use imagery of work for promotion of the exhibition and DAC. CATEGORIES Artists may submit a total of 3 works. Categories are: Landscape / Cityscape Human Portrait / Figure Nature / Animals Still Life / Interior Alternative Darkroom Process FRAMING AND LIMITATIONS All photographic work entered must be securely framed and back-wired, ready for hanging on our hanging system (similar to a nail). Saw-tooth hangers will not be accepted. Alternative hanging systems will not be accepted. Works on glass, metal or alternative medium may be entered, work must adhere to the wiring rules. Images created with 2nd party filters/enhancements or extreme digital manipulations that materially alter the photographic image from the camera-captured image are not allowed. Digital manipulation/editing may be used as a presentational tool in support the image’s organic potential (e.g. minor formatting, cropping, sizing, and natural balance tone, and color). AWARDS Entry into the exhibition is non-juried (all entries are accepted). All work entered and delivered to DAC Gallery will be displayed and juried for awards by our professional juror. Cash awards will be given for the Mark Griggs Best of Show award, as well as First and Second Place in each category listed above. The cash awards will be based on entry fee receipts and sponsorships. Third Place cash awards and Honorable Mention ribbons may be given at the discretion of the juror. ​ ​ CHANGE OF PROCEDURES, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY To assure the health and safety of entrants, patrons and DAC members, the following adjustments have been made to entry procedures to include: online entry required, submission and pickup of artwork, and the opening reception and announcement of awards: ENTRY PROCEDURES All entries and entry fees will be made online at www.dac.gallery Deadline for entry online is Thursday, January 27, 2022 Complete the online entry form prior to deadline. Pay entry fee: $20 for first entry, $15 for second entry, and $10 for the third ($20, $35, or $45). Fees are non-refundable. - Upload a digital JPEG image of each entry. Images will be posted on the DAC website and Facebook page exactly as submitted. - Each image must be a minimum of 72 dpi, with a maximum file size of 2 MB. - Digital image should be cropped to show only the photographic image without mat or frame. - Care should be taken to avoid glare on images submitted. - Correctly orient the image as viewed, vertically or horizontally. - Rename the JPEG file as follows before upload please: FirstName_LastName_Title.jpg - Example:Doe_John_PhotoNameX.jpg - Download and print the information tag form. Complete a form for each entry, assuring the entry numbers match the information on the entry form and tag. - Cut out the information tag and tape to the back of the matching art work for delivery to the DAC Gallery on January 28-29. MANUAL ENTRY: Manual entries will be accepted on Januaruy 28-29 only and will require a $10 additional processing fee. Manual entry form will be available at DAC Gallery and accepted only 28 and 29 January 2022. DELIVERY OF ARTWORK: Art must be delivered to the DAC Gallery, 96 Franklin Street, Clarksville, TN either Friday, January 28 between 1 and 5 PM or Saturday, January 29 between 10 AM and 5 PM. Entries will be checked to assure online entry procedure has been completed and entries meet specified requirements.Entries not meeting requirements may be disqualified from entry. Social distancing and wearing masks must be observed per local/state law. RECEPTION AND ANNOUNCEMENT OF AWARDS As of the time of writing this prospectus, opening reception is planned for February 3, 2022. If it is determined a live opening reception cannot be held, notice will be sent to all participating artists and will be publicized locally. In lieu of a live opening, award winners will be announced via Facebook Live on DAC Facebook page at 6 PM, Thursday, February 3. Winners will also be posted on the DAC website and social media along with juror’s comments chosen for Best of Show and First and Second place awards. ​ DISPLAY OF EXHIBITION The exhibit will be hung in the DAC Gallery from February 3 through February 26. Additionally, artwork images will be displayed on the DAC website throughout the exhibition. * DAC reserves the right to not display images that are inflammatory, pornographic or otherwise deemed to be offensive to the public ART SALES DAC strongly encourages all entries to be priced for sale. DAC will receive 30% commission on all sales. Sold work must remain on display at DAC Gallery through end of exhibit. Funds from all sales will be delivered to artists after exhibition and no later than March 30, 2022. ​ PICKUP OF ARTWORK All entries must remain on display for the duration of the exhibit. At the conclusion of the exhibit, work must be picked up and signed for at the gallery Friday, February 25 or Saturday February 26 between 11 AM and 5 PM. Social distancing will be observed during the pick-up process and masks are encourged. John Guider is an internationally recognized photographer and author living in Nashville, TN. His work has been shown in museums throughout the country as well as being in the Art in the Embassies program for world wide showings. John received an Emmy for his latest project retracting John Donelson’s 1000 mile journey to the founding of Nashville. A companion book, The Voyage of the Adventure, relating that journey in his handmade 14’ non-motorized boat was just released by the Vanderbilt University Press.
